C. Sylvester Green was a Baptist clergyman, newspaper editor, and educator, of Hartsville, S.C., and Durham, N.C. The collection contains scrapbooks of cartoons chiefly relating to World War II, clipped from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia newspapers by Green. Also included are two volumes concerning the Rotary club in Greenville, N.C., and the Blount family of Pitt County, N.C.

C. Sylvester (Charles Sylvester) Green (1900-1980) was a Baptist clergyman, newspaper editor, and educator. An alumnus of Wake Forest College, Green was a professor of religion and president of Coker College at Hartsville, S.C., 1936-1944; advisor in religious activities at Duke University, Durham, N.C., 1943-1944; and editor of the Durham Morning Herald, 1943-1949.
